Meet Mike

Founder & Chef

Mike got his start in catering in 1997 with his very first job in the industry. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America and spending more than a decade learning every side of catering and event planning, he founded Simply Gourmet in 2008 with a simple goal: create incredible food, deliver exceptional service, and make planning an event as enjoyable as the celebration itself.

As owner and operator, Mike works closely with clients from the first consultation to the last dance. He’s known for being honest, setting clear expectations, and making people feel comfortable throughout the process. His easygoing personality keeps planning enjoyable, while years of hands-on experience help ensure every detail is thoughtfully planned and expertly executed.

When he’s off the clock, there’s a good chance Mike has a cup of coffee in hand, a trip in the works, or a warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie nearby. His favorite part of a wedding day is cocktail hour, when months of planning come together, everyone settles in, and the celebration really gets going.

Meet Darnell

Operations & Event Manager

For more than 10 years, Darnell has kept Simply Gourmet’s day-to-day operations moving. She manages event logistics, coordinates staffing, and keeps track of the countless details that need to come together behind the scenes.

With her bright smile, easygoing attitude, and infectious sense of humor, Darnell has a knack for putting people at ease. She’s there to answer questions, calm last-minute nerves, and handle the unexpected with confidence. It’s all part of the friendly, engaging team experience Simply Gourmet is known for.

Her favorite part of an event? Seeing happy clients and guests at the end of the celebration and knowing all that planning paid off. Outside of work, Darnell loves a cup of tea, a plate of chicken Alfredo, time at the beach, and making memories with her four grandchildren. And when it’s time for a toast, make hers an ice-cold Mill House Köld One.
